about

I was so tremendously fortunate to be able to work with Jonovan Cooper's students at Addis Ababa University in Ethiopia for a week. He is an amazing saxophonist and composer, and he shared this tune with me while I was there, and we performed it together at a concert. I just love this tune. Our arrangement builds to several almost religiously euphoric climaxes. I play this tune a ton on gigs - there is something very special about it. Maybe its the ancient Ethiopian mode upon which it is based? In any case, thank you for this marvelous tune, Jonovan!
